it's here! LENT '05! it has happened quickly this year, due to an early easter...so if you'd like to begin the 40 day lenten season with a bang...today is ash wednesday! check out my favorite prayer spot on the web...sacred space. they have a great ash wednesday devotion today, as well as some great meditations for each day of lent, not to mention a great lenten day retreat to try...

and if you're looking for an excellent book for lenten inspiration, check out the lenten hobo honeymoon by edward haysDownload amazon.com- Books- A Lenten Hobo Honeymoon- Daily Reflections for the Journey of Lent (Daily Reflections for the 40-Day Lenten Journey).htmli recommended this book last year, after discovering it in the library at the abbey of gethsemane! hays is a catholic priest and he suggests that rather than giving up chocolate or coke for lent, or seeing the season as one of grey self-sacrifice, sack cloth and ashes...that we look at lent as an opportunity to fall in love with jesus! to take a 40 day honeymoon with our savior...learning to fall in love with him more and more each day. just think what we might be like, if we focused on a love affair with jesus this next 40 days! really living out who god has created us to be, really believing we are his beloved, really experiencing his passion for us...and actually giving that love back to him and to one another! our homes, neighborhoods, offices etc. just might see jesus for the very first time!!!
so pack your bags for an amazing journey! a lenten honeymoon! preparing room in our hearts, schedules, and lives for the greatest lover of all.
btw, MAP ROOM last night was centered around the theme of the lenten hobo honeymoon...the prayer stations and art focused on the theme of falling in love with jesus during the next 40 days. it was great to have corey and his friends from dayton show up! and thanks to lori, laura, jon, vicki and jeanne for making it all possible, not to mention mac and hudson who helped load and unload the van one more time! we laughed about needing a bigger van inscribed with "have worship, will travel" on the side! and just so you know...i do take sacred space worship on the road to other churches, and places who want to learn how to do experiential worship...just shoot me an email and we can set something up!

Happy Lent!
We enjoyed Map Room tons last night. I'll be back; I know a few others who MUST experience this.

Hi Lily...I'm a friend of steve and maggi's and arrived at your blog this morning still not clear what I might do to lift my prayer life a little this Lent. Had visited Sacred Space ages ago, and forgotten how very wonderful it is...THANK YOU. Taking time to visit there properly right through the season looks like just the Lenten project I need.
Hope your Lent is blessed and fruitful
