i am so thankful that there are folks who really post the details of the "meat" of conferences...if you haven't found paul's blog or jason clark's...as well as corey...they are taking great notes and photos, while i will just give you the fluff...at least for now...
for me, emergent has always been about relationships...theology and practice yes, but when i think about what i really do at emergent events, it is spend time with people! and it is what i look forward to the most! it has been a blast to be in a beautiful spot with amazing weather and be challenged and encouraged, inspired, intrigued and blessed!
fun always to meet folks from blogland...reconnecting faces with names...love meeting new folks...some just discovering the "emergent context "of things, others like me who can't remember the time before....
and it's the relationship factor that keeps me coming back to events like this..
and what i am looking forward to as emergent convention nashvegas approaches!
as usual, i plan to take in workshops...but then i see someone whom i haven't seen in a long while,
or a new i'd like to know better, and we are off for a coke or coffee and the workshop is missed!
just some thoughts and rambles before breakfast:
had all my orthodox stereotypes destroyed this week ....
loved trying to find fried chicken for maggie dawn ...
sad that the southern food hasn't always lived up to my southern standards...or that we seem to arrive at restaurants just as the "specials" of the day are no longer available!
sitting in the sun! hearing stories. thanks for the great weather jesus!
realizing we still need to help folks who are new "connect" and fell welcomed.
and realizing we still can do a better job of teaching/presenting in a more creative interactive style rather than just
the "old talking head" method of presentation.
lunch was an amazing time of laughter and new friends.so sad we didn't get to try the pimento cheese sandwich!
was blessed to take maggie to the airport and catch up with her without the crowds! hope ben liked the baseball cap and spiderman....and thanks again for just being you! and coming across the pond for a short time with a big impact!
got stuck in pre ichthus traffic on the way back.
loved having a spontaneous dinner at shaker town with new friend patrick from tribe and tana from st. paul and old friend wes...beautiful crazy drive down...: )
sad that yet again i have missed an actual lengthy conversation with bishop pagitt!
fun of shaking hand and actually meeting robert webber after all this time (not to mention the fun of introducing him to maggie!)
loved the river of life creation of heidi's worship last night...sorry i missed the creative process...but fun to actually participate for a change, rather than being on the creative side.
also the reading of all our names....god calling our names to come for living water was extremely powerful to me! that's a keeper! ...
stayed up much too late again...great to see karen sloan and here what is up in her job search...
great to meet orange man for jesus and here about celtic stuff in west virginia and in bellingham washington ...watch for the "idiot's guide to the gnostic gospels" in bookstores this fall!
today...can't wait to hear what the amazing joe myers has up his sleeve...especially since he borrowed my title....(he lives in my home town, but we only get to see each other at conferences !)
then the final large gathering and finally packing up the prayer stuff and worship gear...
if you're at WALP grab some graeters ice cream on the way out of town...at the corner of harrodsburg and man o war...in the strip mall! best ice cream in three states! based in cincy by the way : )
do check out the "real meat" of WALP:

Lily you are a star to keep us up to date with the feel of the whole...much more enticing than the details, really. Just been talking to maggi, who clearly had a ball...so, when are you coming over here? Your turn now :-)

I loved your prayer stations. I'm so glad you felt you had time to hang out and talk, since you put so much time into preparing the setting for all of us. Also, I've heard quite good things about your workshop. Thanks so much for your labor of heart, hands and mind.
