spring is truly beautiful in southern ohio, but allergies are NOT! this is the sinus capital of the midwest. my friend joe who just moved back here from denver said he was really feeling the ohio valley crud...the attendance secretary at the middle school said she'd seen more allergy related illness than ever before...
probably because it really decided to be summer before it is spring...a week of high 70's rather than 60's caused everything to bloom at once...and since we didn't actually have winter...nothing really got to freeze, so this may be the reason that the pollen count is off the charts!
whatever the reason...the running noses, and itchy eyes, sneezing and sleepiness can be seen on the entire population of cincinnati this week as we enjoy the amazing weather, trees and flowers!
so it's easter!
lthe bearutiful thing ablout the church year is that you get to continue the easter celebration for five more weeks. and if you work on a church staff than you probably didnt get to celebrate easter on sunday anyway and you are probably just now recoverd enough to think about next week....
so now you can actually take some moments to enjoy easter.
on the church calendar, this sunday is the second sunday of easter...
and it will be easter season until pentecost on june 4th.
so we have a lot of resurrection joy to live into in the next 40+ days ....(there are fifty days between easter and pentecost if you've never done the math- 40 days of jesus living here on planet earth before the ascension and 10 days later the outpouring of the holy spirit)
so as joyce rupp says...look for "little easters" everyday...little glimpses of god's glory...little reminders of the resurrected lord...little hints that he is risen indeed! in the midst of the routine.
btw....found a used a similar photo last year around easter and used the carravaggio painting last year too! oh well...: )
