we spent the weekend prior to christmas with my parents and celebrated christmas on christmas eve so we could drive back to cincy to be with rob's family on christmas night...drove down and back in bucketing rain, but the days while we were in tennessee were warm and sunny! more like spring than january.
celebrated our anniversary on dec.29th with some great sushi, a good movie "the holiday" and "final friday"gallery walk at the pendleton art center. what a great evening!
came down with the flu (cold/crud/just want to sleep)that weekend and it got worse as life got busier.. doing laundry to get mac back to school and hudson off to ski with my dad (he and my dad go to snowmass with the golden age ski club eadh year...nothing like a 77 yr old who snowboards with his 14 yr old grandson!).
after some great drugs from the doc on thursday, rob and i headed to grand rapids, michigan for my journey group class and a great day with NT wright at calvin college. check out the download on "space time and sacraments. it was an amazing day! great to hang out with denise van eck (thanks fpr the hospitality!) and my friends in journey on saturday night. sadly, we had to head south early on sunday and we didn't make it to mars hilll, but did get to say "hey" to nate and jenny from the community life team while at calvin.
this week is getting some order back into the home after the holidays, doing some writing and a lot of thinking and discussion on liturgy and living out the kingdom. also saddened about the latest iraq proposal...i guess i'll need to continue my advent discipline of daily prayer for geroge w. and for peace among all groups in iraq.
and on that note, here are my my quotes for the day...
"War is the greatest plague that can affect humanity; it destroys religion, it destroys states, it destroys families. Any scourge is preferable to it."
"Pray, and let God worry. "
hope you and yours had a wonderful christmas and are starting the adventure of 07 in good health and good spirits!
