home again, home again jiggity jog...my dad said this everytime we drove back in the driveway after a trip...
don't know where he got it, but it was an extended jog home...we actually didn't make it back to cincinnati until last night. (took longer than expected to clean in the "expected" manner, and by the time we did finish is was dark with an impending snow storm, so we didn't leave til wed)
upon arriving home, found that rob was at the police station filing a report on a robbery at our house.
(carson do not tell gransucy!!! this one or you are dead meat and forever banned from reading my blog!)
we live in mayberry...actually not named that, but after living on the west coast and in a big city, our little town definitely has a mayberry quality. everyone seems to know everyone and everyone else's business. folks may go away to college, but they seem to meander back and some even buy their parent's homes when their parents retire. and we have the great ole fashioned 4th of july parade where folks decorate their bicycles and different streets dress up according to the theme and compete for a really cool trophy!
that said, too many folks still believe that it is mayberry and still 1958 or so and that locking doors isn't always necessary...
and just to make things clear, i am not one of these people, and i am constantly getting teased for always locking both my front door and my car doors at all times!
anyway, while out for a late night walk, someone decided to come in the house and leave with rob and mac's cell phones and a still in the box soon to be christmas present dvd player. just thankful the jean val jean wasn't into computers, because the lap top was right there ready to go!
the culprit turned out to be someone just out of prison, who needed a quick hit of crack...hocked the stuff in the next town over, and she is now back behind bars just in time for the holidays...
interesting enough, rob and mac actually said hello to this person while on their walk, not noticing the box under her arm.
so our advent prayers last night included the new jean val jean in our life...
what did she really need that we might could have given her? what if she had knocked? what if she had asked? what would we have given her?
praying that she will get healed of her addiction and find god's love and mercy...
and wondering if folks in jail can get presents at christmas. and would cookies from a victim feel like jesus or pontification?
locking the door and turning out the lights....
lil
It's such a strange feeling to have been burgled. It's happened to me a couple of times, and our perpetrator got away both times. I think I prayed for them but I did not have the grace you do- seriously doubt I would have taken him/her cookies! But one of them took food out of our freezer, so I know they had something to eat.
To market, to market to buy a fat pig;
home again, home again, jiggity jig.
To market, to market to buy a fat hog;
home again, home again, jiggity jog.
To market, to market to buy a plum bun;
home again, home again, market is done.

Hey Lilly,
I'm sorry to hear about your home, but I am glad things worked out. I hear ya about what would have happened if....it really does make you wonder.
Sounds like you had a great trip to Michigan. I love the snow!!!! The pics were beautiful. Keep in mind we rarely get more than a few inches in VA so I'm probably more excited than the average Joe.
Rob Bell is headed here this week!!! I didn't get to attend NYWC this year and was bummed that I wouldn't get to hear him. I chatted with him briefly after my first conv. in 2002 when he released the first 3 NOOMA films. Clearly I am a little excited!!!!
Hope all is going well at church. You are in my prayers!

We live in BumF**K Pennsylvania. Ten years ago under a rather large light someone cleaned out our cars. Two phones, 200 cd's, and a 1000$ stereo system.
Living in Mayberry or BF, Pa. doesn't seem to matter as the criminal element is everywhere.
(They also took an old jacket of my daughters. She asked the State Police why the took the jacket. Their reply,"S. , how do you think that they carried all the loot?"
Proves that I am not smart enough to be a criminal... I would have never thought of that...
