praying for peace...

this is a week for much prayer...as the leadership of iraq attempts to finalize their constitution...and as the gaza strip is being evacuated by the israelis ... i am praying for wisdom and peace and protection. i also am praying these same things for many of my friends in the neighborhood...both locally and in blogland. it seems that many of my friends are in crisis...some with jobs, some with health issues, some with a multitude of transitions and complications...it feels as if life is oppressive rather than light and freeflowing.

lord jesus...we need you!
we need your love and compassion to flow
across our globe
among our leaders
among our friends and neighbors
and in our own lives...
protect us from discouragement
protect us from bitterness
protect us from fear and frustration.
fill us again with your hope.

help us to thank you for the blessings you've poured out on us
rather than moaning and complaining...
and help us to bring life and light to those we meet.

jesus, guide and direct the leaders of iraq and israel
as they are going into new and controversial territory.
protect those who are attempting to bring peace and healing
from the destruction of those who want to bring anger and hate.
lord may your kingdom come and your will be done.

and help us to continue to act and pray as global followers of you. amen
