ah...free wifi in the midst of church! thanks dr. pagitt!
so i made a mad dash to the columbus in the pouring rain on saturday..running two hours late as i am want to do...dropped the van packed with worship gear at the hotel and caught a lift to the airport with some fellow episopalians from mississippi .... i actually hit the airport about 20 minutes before my flight. by an act of god i made it on the plane and my luggage actually made it too. thanks to the great folks in the tsa line who let me go first!
holly and ryan shape picked me up at the airport ...they've been traveling around the usa and europe for the last 9 months playing music and experiencing hospitality among their emergent friends.finding out what living the way of jesus looks like in real life.
we had dinner with doug and shelley pagitt, tim and saranell hartman, damien o, adam and brad from san fran and the jesus dojo, simon from solomon's porch at a thai restaurant and then went back to the pagitts and hung out for a while.
when we arrived at the barnhills...my hosts for the weekend+ their cat decided to be my new best friend.
tipper the cat (al gore cat sadly died recently) decided that she would follow me to my room and then sleep on my bed, before i could even get it in myself. you need to know that i am allergic to cats! i couldn't move her from her spot because i would break out in hives! and start sneezing uncontrollably.
since carla left me a nice note to "just make myself at home". i did just that and grabbed a blanket and my pillow and moved to the living room couch. jim barnhill is a fellow tarheel grad. he and carla are amazing hosts and they have three wonderful kids. jimmy and i had a great time talking "carolina" and he made us a great southern breakfast of eggs, bacon and biscuits.
since i am interviewing for new jobs.. i happened to have one at colonial church in edina sunday am. (tony jone's old stomping grounds) i had great time meeting people, sharing my story, and worshipping with the great folks of colonial.
afternoon...rescued andrew seely
from wandering around minneapolis with a very large back pack after flying in on the redeye from LA. andrew has some great notes from our gathering time sunday night.
worshipped with solomon's porch in their new space! wonderful space...it's comfy couch church meets traditional...the upside down boat and and the stained glass mixes so well the ancient future vibe. the house was packed! with porchers, a visiting youth group, the emergent coordinating groupies, and friends and family coming for a baby dedication. great fun to see tony's family and remind lilly that there is a grown up lilly too. also great to meet tony's parents who were worshipping with the porch people for the first time.
great to see tim conder, joe myers and mark scandrette, thom, dwight, john musik and meet many new folks too.
see andrew for content of last night's post worship discussion.
today we're learning about the new improved emergent village web site and discussing how emergent will be involved in global justice issues.
have a great day. lil
Lilly,
First, MN is too far away from MI. Secondly, thanks for the notes from MN...
Lots of love to you and your three boyz.

Sounds like a blast! Sorry I missed you by a week - I was at the Summer Institute but couldn't stay for another week with family stuff and all. Keep pursuing Jesus!
