emerging church cohort re-imagined

i've been thinking and dreaming about things emergent. getting ready to head to minneapolis for the emergent coordinating group meeting (june 11-13). due to graduation and end of the school year stuff, i'll miss out on the learning party dr. pagitt is throwing the week before but it will be great to see old friends and make some new ones and catch up on what is new in emergent land.

for the past year we've had an emerging church cohort in cincinnati. it's actually called the tri-state emerging church cohort because we've had folks from kentucky, indiana, and folks outside the cincinnati belt come join the conversation.  we've had a great time hanging out together at the glendale pub and the wait staff now know we aren't really strange. 

last month, however, i was the solo attender...graduations, family stuff, work, etc grabbed the attention of other folks so i had time to contemplate the group and dream about what it could be.

one of the things i know about myself is the fact that meetings, even with fun people, are just that, they're meetings...and even with food and drink, it can still feel like another thing on an already extremely busy calendar.  so, i am reimagining the cincinnati/tri-state cohort. 

i am proposing that we become an experiential group rather than just a bunch of talking heads.
hum, experiential...who knew?
what i am proposing will be a monthly gathering that will involve folks in spiritual practice (actually doing things, not just talking about them)

so here's the new plan....which i really do believe is a god thing and i really do pray that we can all invite folks to join in the adventure.

june 24th: 9am Glenwood Gardens Park (in woodlawn ) Parable Walk...starts with lectio divina and then a contemplative walk ...just you and jesus allowing him to speak to you through nature. coffee provided. $2 park fee

july 15th : 10:30 am Cincinnati Art Museum...we'll gather in the parking lot, museum opens at 11am..bring money for lunch...we'll be doing an art meditation ....with discussion and lunch afterwards in the cafe...free admission and free wifi in the cafe.

off in august...

in the fall watch for a labyrinth walk, a morning of directed silence, movies with a message, a potluck or two and much more...
