just a quick post to check in and say you must go download brian mclaren's sermon from mars hill bible church today! he preached on isaiah 61. mars is doing a whole series on this passage and brian hit one out of the park this morning. i don't know how fast the mars hill crew gets the sermon on line but do take the time to check back. i loved the fact that brian used an experiential bit to open his sermon! it made me smile! brian got me into emergent land many years ago and i am glad to call him my friend! i tend to only see him in brief moments after speaking gigs but he really has impacted my life and his vision has expanded my ministry and my heart for jesus and his kingdom! loved the story from his new book the secret message of jesus! i want to be a taxi driver for god's kingdom! and i am so glad to have a new box top for my puzzle! (listen to the sermon and you'll understand)
and in thinking of god's kingdom, it was so fun to see all my friends at mars hill today! denise van eck and her crew, chad and eric, steve from mars hill jr high, and randy from water's edge, and to know that many of them will gather tomorrow at the cottage for our journey group meeting.
the journey group is planning a large group gathering for next spring and if you'd be interested in knowing more about it
email and i'll send you some more details. just know it will be experiential, not just talking heads!
and as i'm here at panera in grandville checking email, just got one from my friend martha (college friend of mine and missionary extrodanaire in rwanda) she is currently with a pastor and his wife in india. pastor frank (a rwandan pastor who lives his life giving himself for god's kingdom) is having heart surgery tuesday morning. this is very dangerous due to the poor condition of his heart. they went to india because they have a specialist there who can do this type of surgery but the doctor asked for prayer for this operation. so i'm asking that you take time to pray for pastor frank and his doctors.
india is 9.5 hours ahead of eastern time. so his surgery tuesday morning will be happening monday night in my time zone. thanks for sharing this piece of the kingdom with me and i'll keep you posted on his condition as i hear. pray for martha too ! thanks.
hope you're having a great sunday wherever you are...blessings. lil
