so we've survived halloween and the election!
thanksgiving is fast approaching...
the forgotten holiday in america, due to lack of consumerism, ie..not enough present purchasing.
this weekend marks the beginning of CELTIC ADVENT
the celtic christians looked at ADVENT as a season of preparation for the coming of King Jesus
and as a season of preparation, they marked out 40 days before christmas just like the 40 days of Lent before Easter.
so if you're used to procrastinating
or if it takes you way too long to actually find the spirit if christmas
why not begin EARLY and start a new tradition of celebrating celtic advent.
you've got all weekend to start.
the official start is sunset of november 14th..but november 15th works just as well.
or even sunday november 16th like me : )
i'm not a legalist when it comes to seasons of the church year i'm much more about catching the
spirit of the season and allowing Jesus to tell us his story in the midst of the season.
and the beauty of following the church year calendar, is that ADVENT marks the beginning of the New Year... a new year, a fresh start, a new beginnning! and i'm always up for starting new!
please don't despair if this is just way too early to think about all of this...despite the fact that the holiday commercials and christmas tress are in all the stores...
tradtional advent begins the sunday after thanksgiving...sunday november 30th is ADVENT 1...and a perfectly wonderful time to start to prepare Him room.
